The New York Post announced this weekend that 30-year-old Willam Ling of Brooklyn has ordered a brand new ATM and plans to install it in a tea shop in East Village, Manhattan. The machine is connected directly to the bitcoin network via the Internet, only accepts cash in the same way as bank ATMs and allows it to be transferred directly to the bitcoin account (s) of the applicant. The transfer takes place in 15 seconds using the most common bitcoin exchangers such as mtGox, Coinbase, Bitstamp and others.
The machine is manufactured by Lamas , designed to be as simple and comfortable as possible, but at the same time safe. Anyone can order it, the machine is completely independent – it only needs power and internet connection and installation should be easy. Lassu spokesman Zach Harvey says they already have orders from 25 different countries, from Canada to Kyrgyzstan. They are currently translating the hard interface into different languages. The same machine is already in operation in Helsinki. As early as Christmas, the same vending machines have already been delivered to Bratislava, Shanghai, Paris, Montreal, Sydney, Nimbin, Auckland, Copenhagen, Sao Paulo and Stockholm.
